Numazu
Numazu is a city located in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture. Characterized by warm climate and magnificent views of Mt. Fuji, Numazu has been a favorite place for many writers. Along the coast, several commemorative facilities and monuments dedicated to literature can be found. Numazu Goyotei Kinen Koen (Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park), built in 1893, was an imperial summer retreat for Emperor Taisho, and the villa has been open to the general public since 1970. In the vast 15-hectare park, you can see old pine trees, as well as plum and peach trees that bloom annually. From the estuary of the Kano River, you can enjoy a view of Mt. Fuji from a watashibune, a traditional rowboat that crosses the river.
