Gujohachiman
Located almost right in the central part of Gifu, Oku-Mino's center is Gujo Hachiman, where the upper stream of the Nagara-gawa River and its branch, the Yoshida-gawa River, meet. Oku-Mino prospered as a castle town during the 16th century and even today preserves old streets defined by special lattice, "Bengara-goshi." The current castle was rebuilt in the early 20th century and in the donjon are many weapons and armor that were used in the old days. In summer, people enjoy Gujo-odori, a dance that continues for 32 nights. The four days of the climax are called the All-Night Dance, and tourists join in the dancing from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next morning.
