Ujigami Shrine

Ujigami-jinja Shrine is on the east bank of the Uji-gawa River. Uji-gami Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the city of Uji in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. In 1994, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto". Uji-gami Shrine is considered be the oldest original Shinto shrine architecture built around 1060 by dendrochronology, and supposed to close relation of construction of Byodo-in in 1052. Many other must-see historic sites are located nearby, including Mimuroto-ji Temple devoted to the wooden statue of Amida-nyorai Buddha, Manpuku-ji Temple, which was founded by the Chinese priest Ingen and built with Chinese-style architecture and ritual manners.
